My father died five years ago, but his money is still not divided among my brother, our mother, and myself. They don’t want to share it. What should I do?

Question

Islamic Shariah guide us that after one’s death his/her property should be divided among the legitimate heirs. There should be no bad intention regarding the division of inheritance as the laws of inheritance are described in the Qur’an as Allah’s boundaries, thus these laws should never be encroached upon. It is always better to divide the estate the soonest after death because the heirs own all properties by the incidence of death itself. However, remember you are dealing with your mother and brother. Check if there is a good reason for the delay.
