We are captives of depression. What does lslam say about it?

Question

Depression drains our energy, hope, and drive, making it difficult to do what we need to feel better. While there is no quick fix to overcome depression, it is far from impossible. Admittedly we cannot beat it through sheer willpower, we do though have some control even if our depression is severe and stubbornly persistent simply by having faith (Imaan), trust and confidence in Allah Ta’ala and trust that things will get better. Allah Ta’ala says in the Noble Qur’an: We will test you with a certain amount of fear and hunger and loss of wealth and life and fruits. But give good news to the steadfast. (2:155) As Muslims we are blessed that we may turn each anxiety and each concern into a supplication and view it as another reason to submit to Allah. Islam teaches hope and depression contradicts the promises of Allah.
