Yes, it is permissible to pray in a gymnasium, provided the place is kept clean and suitable for prayer. However, it is not considered a Masjid. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: “The earth has been made for me as a place of prayer and a means of purification.” (Bukhari and Muslim).
